Metro Wants Late-Night Hours to Return

(DC)- Metro wants late-night hours to return amid their new budget, but transit officials say it will cause more delays. Yesterday, Metro proposed adding four hours of rail service during the week with hopes of increasing ridership but some leaders say that will cause more single-tracking and rail shutdown zones. The new proposed schedule would close Metro at midnight Monday through Thursday and at 2 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Metro reduced the hours in 2017 for overnight track crews to have more time to do preventative maintenance.
